Contract Implementation Committees:

  • Equity Committee: UC pay dramatically lags market rates for many of our job titles. We work together to push for additional equity increases above and beyond the raises in our contract.

  • Compensation Evaluation Committee: Evaluate the real cost to the University of the raises we have negotiated in our contract.

  • Hazardous Work and Safety Committee: Establish standards for hazardous work to improve safety and seek supplemental compensation

New job titles in TX/RX bargaining unit:

  • Principal Telescope Technicians: Principle Telescope Technicians have been successfully brought into TX unit and will receive wage increases similar to those already negotiated for other TX employees. They will benefit from the pension protections and negotiations in the TX contract.

  • Clinical Research Coordinators: UPTE-CWA has petitioned to include Clinical Research Coordinators in the RX unit as they do work essentially the same as Staff Research Associates. UPTE-CWA will push to have them included in all the cost-of-living and step increases already part of the TX/RX contract.

  • Technology Support Analyst (TSA) III: UPTE-CWA has petitioned to include the
    TSA IIIs in the TX unit as they do work essentially the same as TSA I and IIs but with more experience. UPTE-CWA will push to have them included in all the cost-of-living and step increases already part of the TX/RX contract.

  • Producer/Directors: UC reclassified many projectionists into the producer/director job series to get them out of the union, in particular at the San Diego campus. UPTE-CWA petitioned to include all but the top title in the series in the TX unit and UC has agreed. The 50 people in this series became UPTE members in the Fall of 2008. Many of them, including former UCSD UPTE TX bargainer Art Daly, had been members of UPTE previously.
