Health & safety trainings (Jan/2011): Implementing our new health and safety language in our contract, UPTE is holding trainings all around the state for those interested in becoming a health and safety steward or those wanting to know more about maintaining a safe workplace. We want to ensure that we never forget the tragic death of Sheri Sangji at UCLA. UPTE’s health and safety director Joan Lichterman is coordinating the trainings.
Equity distribution (Jan/2011): We have concluded negotiations for the 0.5% equity pool that is effective October 1, 2011. Certain titles at certain campuses will receive supplemental market equity. The remaining funds will be distributed equally among remaining employees.
UPTE demands to bargain about healthcare and pension issues (Dec/2010): The University of California has exercised its contractual right to propose higher than agreed upon health benefit premium increases and additional pension contributions. See the bargaining reports below for the latest details.
Layoff/re-employment best practices sought (Sep/2010): The Layoff/Re-employment Committee is compiling the best practices across the UC campuses for re-employment of laid off employees.
