Solidarity does not stop at the edge of the campus, lab or hospital where we work.
Working people need to support each other's issues beyond contract negotiations because there are many actions and decisions that affect our working lives that take place away from the bargaining table.
Because we recognize that we as members will not have complete agreement on all political issues, we ensure that political decisions are always voted on at either our annual convention or by our systemwide executive board. We will welcome dialogue.
When we vote to take a political position, our union will take appropriate actions to implement that position. We encourage members to educate themselves and participate in the solidarity actions that our union supports. Undoubtedly the day will come when we need help too and we want to be able to call on a broad support network.
