June 22, 2006 Your UPTE HX Bargaining Committee has completed its 5 th session with the University. Most of the non-economic articles have been presented and discussed in detail. Your Committee has worked hard to convey your concerns. Improvements were made to Art 8- Grievance Procedure; Art 9- Health and Safety; Art 14- Leave of Absence; Art 18- Military Leave and Art 43- Work Rules. Other Articles were retained as current Contract Language. It is time to focus on mobilizing the most frequently discussed Articles in the contract: Our Benefit plan, improved Compensation, Hours of Work and Fair and Respectful Treatment. Our next session with the University is June 26 th – June 30 th in Sacramento . We will keep you informed of our progress. The current contract negotiations will need to continue beyond the June 30 th expiration date. An extension has been agreed to. Thank you for your continued support.
