Dear UPTE members and friends:

YOUR URGENT ACTION IS REQUESTED

UPTE-Los Alamos is launching a petition drive aimed at reinforcing the union's support for the UC contract.  This petition is aimed at helping to restore public confidence in the LANL workforce. 

I am asking each recipient of this email and petition to get LANL workers, including contractors to sign the petition.  Each one of you can get sixteen signatures from friends, colleagues, co-workers, and family at a minimum. The petition should be handed to an UPTE member who will get it back to me or else it can be mailed to the address at the bottom of the petition.

Attached is a copy of the petition. 

DO NOT USE GOVERNMENT PROPERTY, COMPUTERS, COPIERS, ETC. TO DISTRIBUTE THIS PETITION AND BE SURE TO USE ONLY YOUR PERSONAL TIME AND THE PERSONAL TIME OF OTHERS TO GATHER SIGNATURES.

You can get petitions from me, Jerry Leyba or any UPTE officer (Betty Gunther, Manny Trujillo, Cathy Chapman, Gil Merriman, Valerie Espinoza).  [PDF version of the petition is here.]

UPTE will take petitions to Washington D.C. the week of March 9.  Therefore, the deadline for returning filled out petitions is March 6 at the end of the day.
